New Club...

I have to thank fellow CTMH consultant Lisa Stenz who created this club. I've taken her idea and tweaked it to fit my business. I hope to post this month's club creation a little later today or tomorrow so be sure to check back.

Monthly (no-commitment) CreativeClub

Do you like to make fun projects at a great priceor for FREE? Do you like to learn new techniques? Do you like to earn freeproducts? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, my Creative Club isfor you!

Starting in January 2012, my Creative Club willmeet the 4th Tuesday and Saturday of the month at 7pm at my house, however, youdo not need to be local to be part of the club. My long distance members gettheir kits mailed to them and any orders they place get drop shipped to themdirectly from the Close to my Heart office. (Sometimes they even get theirorders before the local gals!)

Here is more information on the Club:
You may join the club at any time and there is nocommitment to stay in the club for any length of time or to place an order.There will be a small fee (depending on the project) for the supplies used forthe projects we make which will range from cards to small gift items, toscrapbook pages, and more. Each person who signs up for this club will havetheir name added to the bottom of the hostess list. The person whose name is onthe top of the list will get the hostess rewards that month. In order for yourname to keep its “place” on the list, you must place a $25 minimum order (beforeshipping and taxes) whether you attend the class that month or not. If you donot place a $25+ order that month, then your name goes down to the bottom ofthe list. If you do place a $25+ order, then your name continues to move up thelist AND you will get $5 off your kit for that class. (For example, if theclass is $10 that month, your kit will only be $5 or if the class is $5 thatmonth, your kit will be FREE!) Long distance members pay an additional $5 tohave their project kits mailed to them.

Sacha Bear for Charity

Scentsy has teamed up with Ronald MacDonald House for their charitable cause with the current catalog. 100% of the net proceeds from each Sacha bear sold will be donated to Ronald MacDonald House Charities. I will be attending Scentsy's Spring Sprint with lots of other consultants and we have been challenged to bring a Sacha Bear to be donated to a local Ronald MacDonald House.

I would like to be able to take 10 of them with me, but I need your help. So far I have 2 to take, but I still need 8 more. If you are able to help out and donate one, please send me an email by 8pm EST tonight. The cost of the bear is only $40 CAN.

I thought I'd take a few minutes today to share the cover of the new idea book as well as remind you of Close to My Heart's campaign's for this month - there are 2 of them. And to share my scrapping goals for the year.

First the scrapping goals....

To use up the products I have on hand. That doesn't mean that you won't be seeing new paper and stamp sets, it just means that you may not be able to purchase all of the paper packs that I use in my projects this year.
Create 26 layouts (that's about 1 every 2 weeks).

Holiday Card Class

Tomorrow is the last day to sign up for my Holiday Card Class. I have created an additional set that you can choose from. Not local? You can purchase the kit and I will mail it to you.

November Already

Here we are on the 3rd day of November and already I've fallen behind on my personal goal of posting each day to my blog. I'm home today with a sick princess, and because she fell asleep on me before 11 am (it couldn't be because she barely slept last night), I thought I'd take advantage and get at least today's post done, and me schedule a few more. I really should do some laundry, but that can always wait right????

I've been very busy getting some items ready - for upcoming events, swaps and Christmas gifts. I hope to be able to share most of them with you this month. Some of the items use retired products, so the only way you will be able to get them is by attending one of the events. Don't forget that if you can't make it but still would like to participate, you just need to email me to let me know.

This card uses the retired Bella paper, but I used the new Hooray Bouquet stamp set. I love how it coordinates with the Art Philosophy cartridge because the flower would never look that clean if I had to cut it myself.

Child care Worker Appreciation Day

Today is Child Care Worker Appreciation Day. I wanted to say a special thank you to our caregiver. We were very fortunate to find her when I went back to work when Monkey was 19 months old. He had a few rough patches in the beginning, but very quickly fell in love with Martha and going to her house every day. When Princess arrived, I kept Monkey home with us, but we still went to visit Martha and his friends at "Martha's" park. We were again very fortunate when we needed care for both of them, she had the space and was willing to take them both back. Monkey was so excited and couldn't wait to see his friends every day again. Princess loves it too.

So to say thanks, I created a little album for her using the retired My Creations 3 ring binder form Close to my Heart. (and it's still on the while supplies list here.)

For the cover, I inked all of the edges with crystal blue ink. Since I took this picture I also added "thank you" in cotton candy letters.

On each page, I also included something that we wanted to say thank you for - the yummy meals that she provides, her snuggles, taking the to the park, opening her home to the children, etc.

Here's another card from the Wishes Card Workshop that I made. This one again uses one of my favourite stamp sets out of the current Close to my Heart catalogue.

I added some natural hemp and tied it though the button holes to add a little to the card. And there's a little bling on the card, but I'm not sure how well it shows up in the picture - look at the bottom of the exclamation point.

I've spent some time this weekend working on a few cards and a small album. Be sure to check back on Wednesday to see the album.

Grandest Year Yet Bella!

I ~~need~~ want to start using up some of my ~~old~~ retired papers. So I've been trying to chip away at them. This card uses the Bella pack from a couple of summer's ago.

I used one of the workshops of the Wishes book and make a set of 16 cards. I also used the new Hooray Bouquet on the cards. I fell in love with this set as soon as I saw it in the new Idea Book. This set also coordinates with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge so you don't have to cut around the flowers by hand.

Heartfelt Monday with Holiday Magic

This is one of the cards that I was able to cut out at my crop on Friday night. I was then able to put it together while the kids were napping over the weekend.

It uses the retired Mistletoe paper from last year and this months stamp of the month - Holiday Magic.

I usually leave the inside of my cards blank, but this one says " all year through" and has some snowflakes stamped in the corner.

Crop and Thanks

I attended a United Way Fundraising Crop on Friday Night. While I had a good time once I got there although I almost talked myself out of going....

I had taken the day of work - I had thought that I may have a day to create by myself, but Princess wasn't 100%, so she stayed home. And I figured that we might as well pick Monkey up after school and then I could spend the afternoon with him too. Things were going ok other than Princess being crabby (she had her immunizations the day before), but I ~~thought~~ hoped she would have a good nap in the afternoon. Boy was I wrong. She only slept an hour, and then woke up crying, which in turn woke her brother up. So I didn't have time to pack my stuff for the crop that night.

Then the afternoon was spent telling the children not to run in the house, don't hit your brother, stop teasing your sister, you get the idea. We couldn't go outside because it was P-O-U-R-I-N-G and we were having a strange thunder storm. Now I know they were acting like a typical brother and sister who didn't have any outside time (I'm sure my brother and I did that countless times), but I was still trying to figure out how I was going to pack for my crop.

Then DH finally gets home and convinces me to go to my crop. So I run downstairs, get my stuff packed and head out. It's still pouring and I realize about half way to the crop that I've left ALL of my blocks at home. Now the crop was a good 30-40 minute drive from my house, so I wasn't turning around to go back for them. I start thinking of all the things I was going to accomplish that night, and trying to figure out what I can do now that I've forgotten my blocks.

I get to the crop and it's still pouring. I decide that since I don't have my blocks, I'll leave my bag of inks in the car. No point in taking them in if I can't use them right???? Once I'm there I start cutting papers for cards. Over the course of the evening I cut enough paper to make about 120 cards. However, I realized as I try to put them together that I've left my adhesive with my inks - I had refills coming out the wazoo, but no actual adhesive container.

A fellow CTMH consultant (Jenn McMillan) was there and was teaching a make and take. So I decided to sign up for it. And it wasn't until I went to make the card that I remembered - I had no adhesive. Luckily Kindell who was sitting next to me let me borrow hers. So here is the ONLY item I finished in the 4.5 hours I was at the crop....

I had anticipated to have a couple of projects to share with you this month, but life has gotten in the way. So I only have one card for you that uses this month's Stamp of the Month.

I wasn't sure about using so much black on a Christmas card at first, but I think it's starting to grow on me. I had cut both the stocking and the topper by hand because I didn't have my Art Philosophy Cartridge yet. Although there isn't the exact same stocking on the AP cartridge, I have heard that you can adapt what is there to make it work for this. I just haven't tried it yet.

You can get the Holiday Magic until the end of October. Be sure to check out the while supplies last items on my website too - some new items have been added. I'll place an order Saturday evening, so be sure I have any orders by 5pm EST this Saturday.

Event Calendar Workshop

First a HUGE thank you to Jen Rubio who designed this workshop and was willing to share it with her fellow CTMH consultants. I thought it was sooooo cute and perfect for little holiday gifts that I have chosen to offer it is a workshop too!

You'll notice that I did not add the embellishments to mine - I personally prefer to have my calendar flat. But I'm giving you the option of a plain one or embellished one to make at the workshop. I also used the water colour pencils rather than the markers. I have to apologize for the glare in my pictures.

The workshop will take place November 13 from 1-5 pm. You need to RSVP by October 28.
Cost: Plain - $17.50 for one, or 2 for $30
Embellished - $25.00, or 3 for $45
Please be sure to let me know if you would prefer to use the markers to colour when you register so that I can ensure I have them all on hand.

Heartfelt Monday - H2H Challenge

The challenge over at H2H this week is to use a Sentiment stamp set ONLY. At first I thought that this would be a difficult endevaour. I wasn't sure that I had a Sentiment only set - I always seem to be looking a sentiment and son't have anything that seems right for the card.

Well I came up with this.....

Winter Card Class

This year instead of offering a Christmas Card class I thought I'd offer a Winter card class. I always felt like I was excluding people who don't celebrate Christmas, so this year I don't have to worry about that.

First off, I have to thank fellow CTMH consultant Barbara "Bo" Trommer for her cutting diagram for these cards. I don't have her website to send you to right now, but once I find it I'll update this post.

You will create 10 cards for this Winter Card class for $20. If you place a $25 order with me at the class, the cost will only be $15. The date and location is still to be determined, but I hope to have the details finalized in a few days. So while you're waiting, check out the card samples I created last night....

National Card Making Day Workshop is coming up October 1st. Sharing from the Heart Blog Hop

Welcome to September's Sharing from the Heart Blog Hop.

If you have arrived from Adeline's blog, you are in the right spot. If you are starting on my blog, just keep going until you get back to mine. We have 14 ladies participating this month.

For September we were given the option of using this months Stamp of the Month - Limited Edition, a colour combo or something with fall. I chose to create 2 different cards - one uses Limited Edition and one has a fall feel to it.

This card uses the Limited Edition stamp set. I found it very dificult to come up with something with this set. I think it's because every time I look at it I want to cut out the tag shape on it with my Art Philosophy Cartridge and I don't have it yet (although I received the shipping notice for it yesterday.) I do have to thank Nona for this card as she sent me the pieces to make it. Check out this post for more details.

The second card for this hop uses the new SO GRATEFUL stamp set for the fall inspired card. I fell in love with this set as soon as I saw it in the Idea Book. This card is made with the retired Olivia paper, but I thought it was perfect to show off the pumpkin. If you like this card, be sure to ask me about my National Card Making Day workshop on October 1st as this is one of the cards we will be creating. The band across the middle is a retired Kraft border that I covered in pear ink. The leaf for the pumpkin was added with a pop-dot.

I feel that I have neglected my blog for the past few days. I think about something to sit and post something, but I always seem to get side tracked. So today I've made sure to make some time to post and get a few posts ready over the next few days.

Here's one of the card that I made using my prize from Nona. Back in May or June she offered up some prizes on her blog. If you purchased one of her paper crafting templates, your name would be entered into a draw. And I was a lucky winner. Not only did she send the cards all ready to go (they were pre-cut, just ready for stamping), she also happened to send me one of the paper packs that I hadn't purchased. So I've enjoyed using the Mayberry paper for these cards.

SHARING FROM THE HEART BLOG HOP

Welcome to August's From the Heart Blog Hop!. If you've arrived here from Jody's blog, your on the right path. There are 22 of us involved in this month's hop. So settle down with your favaourite drink and enjoy what everyone has created. Don't worry - this is a circular hop, so if you've started with mine, just keep going until you get back here.

This month we could use this month's stamp if the month - Wicked, school related items, or the new products. I chose to use the new products.

These 2 card are exactly the same, and I used exactly the same products. The only difference was I used the backside of the new B&T paper for the second card. I love how versatile the new paper is - it's sturdy enough to use for card bases by itself and it has a completely different pattern on the back. Not to mention the zip strips along the top. One side of the zip strip tells you what paper pack it is and what colours are used in the kit, while the back side of the stip is a decorative strip of paper that is different from the rest of the paper. It's perfect for using as an embellishment like a ribbon!

While I'm working on my upcoming Idea Book Launch party I may not be posting a whole lot of creations. I think it's been a few weeks since I shared one of my kids "cute" stories. So here it goes .....

Monkey was lounging in bed with me the other morning. And as much as I was enjoying our time together, I knew we were hitting the "sweet spot" where we had to wake Princess up and start getting everyone fed and dressed so we could leave the house on time. So I asked Monkey if he was ready to go down for break fast yet. His reply: "Uh, not quite yet. But almost Mommy." Once I finished chuckling at his comment I said, "You know you are just too darned cute sometimes." His response: "Yeah. I know." (Good thing he's modest too!)

Blast From the Past

In my post on Friday I mentioned that I was going to work on some cards and use up some of the paper I have lying around. Well I found a bag of partially finished cards so I decided to work on those instead.

The cards I'm sharing today are the very first cards I made with Close to my Heart products. I think we made 10 cards using a one sheet wonder at a scrapping retreat I was at. This was when I fell in love with their stamps and came right home to find a consultant near me.

I do have to warn you that they are fairly basic. When I found them last night the card was put together, but I added the sentiment and the bling to them.

I'm sorry I don't remember what the flower stamp set is called, and I'm not sure of the paper colours that were used. But I do know that A Little Thanks, and A Little Everything were used for the sentiments as well as pearl opaques adhesive gems and an old connections club rewards for the embellishments.
